We have little 10 lb dogs so I’m not sure how well this will work on big dogs with more substantial nails to trim. For us it worked great. This is no louder than our silent dog clippers. We get both our dogs groomed but needed something for their nails in between appointments. We used manual clippers before but our pups hated those. Surprisingly, they were very cooperative for this and I think that is because it is similar to what they experience at the groomers. The sound is really minimal.
